CHETCO RIVER–A sad season of steelhead fishing came to a close here on April 1 and nobody seemed to care…
EEL RIVER–While it is still legal to fish the Main Stem below the Forks (with artificials only), there’s not much besides the occasional downer. The South Fork is now closed.
GARCIA RIVER–Closed for the season.
GUALALA RIVER–Steelhead season is now closed here.
MAD RIVER–Steelhead fishing here limped along until the April 1 …

SACRAMENTO — The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) recently announced the recipients of its 2007-08 Fisheries Restoration Grant Program (FRGP). The awards total nearly $10 million. The National Marine Fisheries Service provided approximately $7 million toward the total grant amount.The funds will be used for projects throughout the state to restore critical habitat for native salmon and steelhead populations. CHETCO RIVER “Not much happening here during the week and then some rain hit over the weekend and slowed it down even more-
